I found a problem with my installation of the Moyer "polishing" gas filter that I thought I should pass on--even if it once again demonstrates my amateur status as a mechanic:
When checking my engine last week I found that the hose on the filter between the fuel pump and carb had developed a kink. When I installed the filter this spring, I obviously cut the hose a bit too short. At the time I installed it seemed fine, but over the course of the summer, the sharp bend turned into a kink. It did not seem to affect performance (at least noticeably), but that was just dumb luck. I'll install a longer hose with a more gentle radius.
