Load Testing on the Hard

I have my rebuilt engine on the hard and am trying to design some method of putting a load on it. I feel sure some of you have done the same and have some ideas that would shorten the process. I do not have access to a dyno for testing, so I just want to be able to load the engine up a little for final tuning before returning to the boat. Any ideas would be appreciated.
