We just had our A4 completely rebuilt. It starts first crank but wont shutdown when you turn the ignition switch to off. The switch seems fine as the the accessories turn on and off okay.
Anyone know what would cause this?

I would disconnect the ignition lead from the positive terminal of the coil to determine if that lead has a constant 12 volts applied to it (regardless of ignition switch position). If it does, you will have to trace the lead all the way to the ignition switch to determine where it is connected to 12 volts. If the lead from the ignition switch goes cold when the ignition switch is turned off, you'll have to check each of the other leads that connect to the positive terminal of the coil to determine which one is remaining hot with the ignition switch turned off.

I had a simmilar experience after rewiring and rebuilding project. In my experience the engine will run as long as the coil has 12V. While wiring the ignition harness, I somehow had an extra jumper bypassing the ignition switch. The funny thing was that even after turning off the main battery switch, the engine was still running. Then i disconncted the battery + terminal and it was still running???. Then I realized that I had a portable trickle charger conncted to the positive bus. That was powering the engine.
