Last Fall I was having trouble with my engine shutting down when I would throttle up. Don's advice was to clean and rebuild the carburetor. I was a little nervous to start a project like that when I heard things like it was mechanical brain surgery! However I purchased the MMI service and Overhaul manual and a service kit for my late model Zenith. I can't thank you enough!!! It was so easy I'd like to do it again. My next question is, you recommend an in-line fuel filter between the fuel pump and carburetor. Can it be placed before the fuel pump and is there a specific filter to use? I have a main fuel filter just out of the fuel tank. Thank You again for your help. cduer

Cduer,

Glad to hear your carburetor work went so well!

You will lose some of the benefit of a secondary (or polishing) filter if you place it anywhere but directly in front of the carburetor. This is particularly true if you're using an older mechanical fuel pump which can at times generate small pieces of crud from their valves or diaphragm chambers.
