My shift cable has always been tough to shift. I was able to improve things at the end of last season by working it - but any suggestions for lubricants that will free it up without contributing to downstream problems?

My A-4 uses a standard Morse or teleflex control cable---There is no efficient way to lube these guys----good news is that they are inexpensive----bad news is that they are a pain to install. Ultra-flex cables are a few bucks cheaper and they are of good quality. Make sure you have the right hardware for the ends of the cable---there are several options---all inexpensive----but getting the right one's saves you the grief of crawling out of the hole for 69 cent item.
