fuel pump

I have a fuel pump with a glass bowl. Is this an earlier model? Is it safe to use as is or should I replace the bowl with a metal one? It's was purchased as a spare and I believe it's for the A-4. Has anyone seen the glass owl version before?

I have seen a couple of these supposedly for the A4, but I've never seen one installed on a boat. They do not meet Coast Guard requirements, and more importantly, are not safe for use on a marine gasoline inboard due to the obvious danger of bowl breakage.
