I have removed the studs from the block. Only one stud had all its threads. The others had 4 or more threads showing. The one stud hole that had all it's threads is clear into the water jacket. I read that the stud hole(threads)
in the block was into the water jacket. My question is, should I completely clean out the other stud holes(threads) in the block before I replace the studs?

Thanks,

Zack

Zack,

Yes, I would clean out the rest of the holes before reinstalling the studs. I would also use a good sealer on the threads, like the ruby colored Locktite. Four threads remaining in the end of the studs should be OK, but if any of them seems loose after cleaning the threads in the block, you might be better off to use one of our 7/16" repair studs in those holes.
