View Full Version : Exhaust Insulation

I've developed a small, almost pin-hole, leak in my exhaust pipe linking manifold to muffler. The pipe is wrapped with insulation that is held in place with wrapped wire. My thought is to cut away the insulation covering the hole, patch the hole, then re-wrap it with similar insulation. I've priced out insulation at automotive stores and it's quite expensive. I only need about three feet (automotive stores don't sell it in short lengths). Anyone know of an alternative insulation that's reasonably priced and comes in the length that I need? I'd be grateful for any help.

I found a small leak with mine, but when I unwrapped it, the hole thing was roted out, The heat wrap was the only thing holding it togather. I spend about $150.00 to replace the exhust pipe, new flange, and heat wrap.
