Should I replace my riser system with cast iron or galv. steel?

I recently did mine with galvanized pipe.
It (and/or the wrap & heat spray) is still off-gassing & smoking a little with about 2 hours on the engine since the replacement. I expect probably 7 - 10 hours of off-gassing.

Galv. is what is recommended in the A4 manuel, but I'm concerned because I was researching a marine surveyors' website and he says that cast iron should be used.

sastanley-
It'll stop "smoking" around the 4-5 hour'ish mark...:p
(Sooner if you motor at high RPM)
Capn Tom-
Go with the galvanized pipe. Many of the A4 users here have done the replacement. All with much success.
