electric fuel pump

I have a problem, when I was checking my fuel pump for sediment the clip that holds the piston in the pump came off and I had parts go every where in the cockpit of the boat. Found all the parts but not sure if it is together right, it does not seam to be pumping fuel.
any suggestions.
