My late model atomic 4 was underwater for a day, and I pickled her and brought her back to life, however the transmission seem to start locking up and makes her stall after 20 minutes in gear(forwar or reversr). She will run forever in neutral. This may be due to some residule water. I do not know.

This is a symptom for which we might have trouble coming up with a historical precedence. Could you give us a few more indications? After the engine stalls, can you restart it immediately and go back into forward or reverse? Is the stalling accompanied by any unusual noises? Have you removed the cover to the reversing gear to check for rust or other abnormalities?

The engine will restart in neutral after it stalls in gear.
I have removed the cover every thing looked clean except a little foam water residule on walls of housing, I have doused it once with some Marvel Mystery.
a littlr rust on top of assembly engine side.
Should I use some diesel to clean up residual?
I have changed oil 3 times.

As Don asks are there any noises when stalling. Much has been posted about listening to what the engine is telling you. Slow gasping stall, maybe fuel/ air leak. Instant stall, maybe coil or bad connections. Grinding mechanical noise stall, who knows. Dan S/V Marian Claire
