I purchased a boat last year that had been sitting in the yard for sometime. I pulled the atomic 4 and switched to an outboard. I'm offering the engine for free to anyone that wants to pick it up. The engine wasn't hooked up and isn't complete, but the block, head and manifold look to be in decent shape. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. What is your location and is it an early or late model? I need early model parts. Dan S/V Marian Claire

I'm in the Philadelphia, PA area. I'm not that familiar with the Atomic 4s, just didn't want to junk something that somebody might have use for. What is the difference between an early or late model?

WHY give it away?? Try your local craigslist and get a few bucks then mail me the money!!! All of us are sad you gave up and went to the outboard

I appreciate the fact that you at least recognized the value int he motor and are offering to the A4 community. What about the gear and throttle shifter assembly? Do you still have it?

I'm in NJ and keep my boat at The NJ shore. The phila area is close so I can come and get it to keep as spare parts for my engine.

Hmmm....Philly is about 3 hours away for me and the wife has friends there we haven't visited in a while :)

Ha ha ha, I can just see it now.."OK, explain to me again why are we stopping on the way up to Jim & Renee's?" :D

ah - beat me to it Tony! Go for it! ;)

Several months ago I jumped into my truck, ran by the bank and made an eight hour round trip to save an A4 from a rather unglorious fate. It's good to know that these precious engines will be saved to run another day.

Faulkner,
You can take me off the list. You are a bit too far from northern Wisconsin to convince my wife that I really have to have it. Thanks for the opportunity.

I will be in Philly next week on business driving up from MD. Where are you located, I can swing by and pick up the motor Tuesday or Wednesday if it is still available.

thanks

A few years ago, we ran a poll, asking forum members how many A4 engines they owned. I didn't go back and look, but I think the "winner" was a guy with 4.

Just to give you something to aspire to.....:)

My friend Rob Heggen owns three Atomic 4's. If I ever switch to outboard I will give him mine.

My brother lives in Elkins Park, off 611. He could pick up your A4 if it's still available. I am very interested, What year was the boat built?

Thanks for the replies, the engine has a new home.

Does the "new home" qualify as an orphanage?

Hi Mark,

I have the complete gear(clutch) control assembly with the thick control cable needed for the A4 if you are interested. A part of the clutch lever is still on the boat. My clutch control was on the port side near the cockpit sole. Recently I moved my clutch control from there to the Edson Pedestal.

PM me if you are interested. I am located in No. Cal.

Cheers.
