Water pump leak

I have a late-model A4 with an Oberdorfer water pump. When running the engine, I notice a steady trickle of water coming from the front plate (plate with 4 screws and Oberdorfer written on it).

When I removed the plate, I discovered that the gasket was badly decomposed and quite thin.

Question: Is the leaking coming from the failed gasket, and if I replace the gasket, should my problem be solved???

I'm quite sure that if you replace the leaky gasket your water leak will stop.
