My 1976 A4 ran great this spring! in July it started to begin stalling and then the RPM's would come back up. In August It became difficult to keep it running at all. It starts with some effort, idles rough and under load it stalls when I give it throttle. A local boat machanic suggested bad gas. I installed a fuel/water seperator, new lines and cleaned the sediment bowl. There was no improvement. I added an octane booster hoping that the old gas needed some help. There was a slight improvement but not for long. A fellow boater suggested that there could be air in the system so I installed a pump bulb between the tank and the filter to fill the system. Still no improvement! Most reciently I brought new gas directly to the fuel pump via a portable outboard tank with fresh gas in it. It still starts hard, sputters, looses RPM's and stalls! The fuel/water seperator is mounted higher than the tank someone suggested that this might be the problem? My next step is the carburetor? I wauld love suggestions as to what my problem could be. Thanks,
