Having asked five friends about whether they put their A-4s in gear when the engine is shut down, I have at least six opinions that break into three categories: yes, no and it depends. I plundered my back copies of Practical Sailor and found an article from May 1987 which is equally inconclusive. I have a three-blade Indigo prop; the shaft is in a cutless bearing. At the risk of replicating the aforementioned responses, I'd appreciate feeback from others.
