I am replacing a rusted out stove pipe type muffler in my Ericson 27 and I am concerned about back pressure. I will be adding about 3 feet of hot section and 1-2 feet of cold. I don't have much options about design so I am not sure what I can do about it if i do have excessive pressure. Any thought?

Avi, some pictures of your existing system would always be useful. There has been extensive discussion here about exhaust systems as of late...it seems that if you add too much length, you may consider going to a larger diameter hose to alleviate back pressure. - edit - Don't do this...this is a bad idea. I must have had my bad idea jeans on when I was typing this one! :o

If you already have 3 feet of hot section and 20 feet of hose like my Catalina 30, I don't think 3 more feet will make any difference.

My $0.02

Avi, don't worry about your addition. My exhaust on my E-35MKII is close to 25 feet due to all the runs and angles and it works fine.
Do not go to larger lines as the "weight" of the water and the lack of velocity due to volume will cause batching and raised preasure to force more water out at a time.
