This season have been struggling with dirty fuel again, and have gone through the complete cleaning of the fuel tank, and replacing of Racor filter and polishing filter.
Engine will not run well at all, and constantly needs to be choked.
At times upon start up, she runs away up to 4000 rpm, then promptly dies, all with little or no throttle adjustment.
At other times, she sounds like an old diesel.
Very little power under load.
Does this sound like dirt in the carburetor ?
Is there any way to clean it without removing it?
I've tried adding carb cleaner to the fuel tank to no avail

Thanks

Crud in the carb can make any engine run lousy. It made mine leak gas into the bilge. I'm not sure what your problem is, but the good news is these A4 carbs are very simple things - not much more complicated than what you would find on a lawn mower. If the diagnosis comes down on the carb, don't be afraid to take it off the engine, separate the top from the bottom half (only a few screws) and blast a can of carb cleaner through all those tiny holes. Be careful with the float. I'd take out the fixed jets and leave the adjustable ones alone if you've never done any carb work before. Heck, I'd probably even reuse the old gasket if it comes apart without too much trouble. But you should probably buy one from Don first, just in case. :)
