Move Throttle and Gears to Steering Column

Recently purchased 1975 Sabre 28 and it appears that the steering column was an afterthought because the controlls are still set-up for a tiller. Can I easily move the controlls to the steering column. It would greatly assist in controlling the boat. Any advise thanks

No doubt wheel steering is cool, but on a boat this size wouldn't it make sense to switch back to a tiller? Our Columbia 8.7 has a tiller and it works fine. I really like the direct and responsive feel. I've never used a wheel though. Don has other information here on adjusting pedestal mount A4 controls. It sounds to me like a tiller and side mount cockpit controls are simpler all around.
