Water Pump Shaft

I removed my 8.5 year old Oberdorfer water pump to replace the original impellor and found the shaft is scored (a ring, maybe 0.005 to 0.010" deep), probably from lack of lubrication (my fault). It did not leak. Do I need to replace the shaft?

I would definitely replace the shaft. If you continue to use such a scoured shaft, you'll accelerate the wear on your housing, and then your seals and impellers will not last very long.
