I probably won't be around the forum too much anymore. I sold my A4 powered Catalina 30 last week, the Admiral and I are looking at bigger and newer, which will, necessarily, be diesel powered.

But I wanted to say thanks to everyone here, and a special shout-out to Don and Ken who helped me through so many (thankfully) minor issues, and a major one. I've gotten a great education along the way, from this board, the service manual and lots of great telephone support. My wife was astounded the other evening when I tried to cram 10 years' worth of experience into an hour and a half conversation with Off The Grid's new owners. Oil pressure safety switches, Marvel's Mystery Oil, Kaminski modifications, electric fuel pumps, fixed vs. adjustable main jets, alternator upgrades, oh it was endless!

As Bruce Willis said in Armageddon, I've gotta go now, but I'll check in on ya from time to time. Look for me around the Chesapeake, mostly north of Bloody Point, coming in and out of the Patapsco. I'll announce the new vessel as soon as things are final - if you see me, give me a shout on the radio.

Good luck on the boat search. There are lots of good deals out there these days. Fair Winds!! Stop by once in a while there Jesse ...and I always liked your posts.

Thanks, Jesse, for your many contributions. If you're ever in the Rock Hall area, give us a heads-up.

We used to be over your way a lot, but not so much since Windows on the Bay closed.

Best wishes,

Bill

You'll be missed Jesse. Please tell the new owners about us.

OK, the deal closed yesterday, I'm back in the sailing business. We acquired a gorgeous 2003 Bavaria 36, white with blue trim and tan canvas. Volvo Penta 2030, which has a saildrive - kind of like the bottom half of an outboard motor sticking out the bottom of the hull. A whole new experience, no prop shaft, no stuffing box. Gear oil changes in addition to regular engine oil.

Moving her tomorrow from Mears in Annapolis up to Rock Creek. Look for us on Chesapeake Bay. Her name is currently HAILE VIRGINIA, but that will be changed before long to, I believe, QUANTUM LEAP.

Neil, I did tell Off The Grid's new owners about this board. Left them a copy of the service manual with the boat, and urged them to get familiar with Don, Ken and the website. I worked too long and too hard on that engine to see it self destruct now!

Can I still buy instruments from MMI? The new vessel hasn't much in the way of guages - idiot lights, I'm told.

OK, report, for anyone who's interested, on the saildrive.

This thing maneuvers like a powerboat, forward and reverse. I can back into the slip by inches, giving the mate easy opportunity to grab the forward docking lines on the way in.

Bill, try Tall Oaks Restaurant, down the same road as Windows on the Bay. They have WOTB's head chef, I understand, and the food is outstanding.
