Hi,
I have an early model A4 with the Prestolite Distributor updated with electronic ignition. Recently it was doused with salt water and I am in the process of cleaning and painting the unit. I have removed and cleaned the weights and need to order the springs. Is there a way to get under the plate on which the weights sit? Once the springs are replaced is there any slippery fluid to be applied to the plate to keep the weights moving properly? And finally what fluid should be placed in the covoured recepticle on the side? I am sure there is crud and rust under there and would like to get it out. Suggestions anyone?
