I have recently installed a new hour meter/tachometer. I am required to set the tach to reflect how many times an indivdual spark plug fires per revolution. With the setting at two fires per revolution, the engine idle rpm is around 700 which seems reasonable to me. With it set on once per revolution it shows 1400 which doesn't seem reasonable. The problem is my logic tells me each plug only fires once per revolution. Any comments. Thanks

Bill It's a four stroke engine. This means the plugs fire every second revolution. The distributator rotor rotates at half the crank speed.
Hope this helps

Dave; Thanks for that info on sparkplug pulses per revolution. That should finally settle the issue. Bill

Bill,
What brand did you go with for your tach?
Thanks,

All, I bought my Pearson 31 on New Years Day. It has no tachometer. Would any new one come with installation and conncetion instructions? What is the reccomended kind?

Brian,
I would think that any new electrical tachometer would come with instructions; however, I can only vouch for the one in our online catalog.
