To order cooling system parts, you will need to know if your engine has a thermostat housing (a small dome-shaped casting) located on the front corner of the head, nearest the starter. This thermostat housing would indicate that your engine has a late model cooling system.
For late model cooling systems, the correct thermostat from our online catalog is: CSTH_02_60.1.
If you do not have a small dome-shaped casting located on the front corner of the head, but a separate housing off the aft end of the manifold instead, you would need an early model thermostat: CSTH_05_60.3.

i placed the thermostat into the block with the thermocouple side in the engine block and the gate nearly flat. i hope this is correct.
the water temperature, as read by the gauge never rises after a cold start. I have tried several temperature senders and, a few years back, a new gauge. none have worked.
goes moyer recommend any particular temperature sender/gauge. someone suggested that there is a grounding miswiring but i have not been able to find it. suggestions?
