Ok, I have the petronix's electronic parts. I just ordered the cap and rotor from Ken. This should be the fix. Stay tuned...

Update on the issue. Took her out with the new cap and rotor and timed her by moving the distributor. I seemed to have resolved the backfiring and all is good. Although we didn't use the motor much, since we actually went sailing! Imagine that...
