Anybody notice anything unusual about the image in the original post?

I think I see it, pretty subtle.

edit: I hereby withdraw my observation. I just checked what I thought was an aberration on my spare engine but it turns out it's normal.

I thought something looked strange but I couldn't put my finger on it at my first look. Now I see it.
Maybe someone has some interesting history how this came about.

Universal or MMI is missing. Is this some kind of aftermarket part?

I was guessing Barr as well. Never seen one deployed.

Exhaust Manifold

I am going through my first overhaul (so far) and have one of these manifolds on my 1974 A4. The engine was originally in a Pearson 30. Here is a couple of pics. As far as I know this is the original manifold...but anything can happen in 40 years... I have since removed the broken stud and it seems to be in good shape for re-use. However, when I came upon the A4, the stud that is pictured here had a chunk of the block attached to the face of it. Someone had a strong negotiation with this thing in removing it. Is there anything I should be cautioned about in its re-use?
