I have different temps all over the block and head. Temps from 160 to 210. Some no more than 1 inch apart. The thermostat is new as is the water pump. The temps are being checked with a laser temp gage the boats temp guage is new mech type and shows 160. Could this be normal ?? If not what might be the problem and solution. Thanks for any help.

I don't believe you have anything to worry about. With the advent of affordable hand-held laser temperature indicators, we've heard a lot of concern expressed over big variations in temperature readings across the top of the head and manifold.
Indications on cockpit temperature gauges have always been a composite of all the temperatures through out the engine, and as long as that indication remains within normal limits (approximately 150 1o 170 degrees), the engine can be assumed to be operating normally. I don't believe that these temperature variations have just started all of a sudden, but rather we're just now finding out about them. Don |
